MELANIE PAUL TANOVICH

 

Award-winning conductor, Melanie Paul Tanovich, is noted for her musicality, versatility, and artistic communication. She is founding director of Orchestra Breva.

Maestro Tanovich has served as Music Director and Guest Conductor of over 30 orchestras, opera companies and choirs. Her performances have been well-received in both North America and Europe.

Melanie trained as a pianist, singer, and conductor at the University of Toronto and Royal Conservatory of Music, earning the top graduating award from each. She extended her training with Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra, England’s Britten-Pears School, and La Domain Forget, Quebec. Her esteemed conducting pedagogues include Raffi Armenian, Kenneth Kiesler, Otto Werner Mueller, Gustav Meier, Pierre Hétu, and Doreen Rao.

A champion of musical outreach, Ms. Tanovich is an active educator and advocate whose approach to musical performance and development is closely tied to her belief in fostering significant connections between the arts and the community.
